Before Tseung Kwan O was built as one of the nine new towns in Hong Kong, it was originally named as Junk Bay in Sai Kung district in southeastern New Territories. You may wonder what you can actually do in such residential neighbourhood; but there is quite a few unexpected things to do while you are there. If you want to explore Sai Kung district, Tseung Kwan O is definitely the doorway to this beautiful "Back Garden of Hong Kong".



A Great Hiking Adventure in Little Hawaii Falls


This secret waterfall is hidden in the middle of nowhere in Sai Kung. It is probably the easiest hike within easy reach in Hong Kong. You will get to see a few different waterfalls following the Little Hawaii Falls Trail. Lin Yuen Terrace Falls is also in the nearby so be sure to check it out too! It only takes about 1.5 hour walk from Po Lam; or less than 30 minute walk if you begin your hike from Tseng Lan Shue. Even a beginner hiker will find it easy! Buses no. 91, 91M, 91P, 92 and more will take you there with ease.


A Perfect Place for Family Time at Hong Kong Velodrome Park


In Hong Kong Velodrome Park, you will not only be able to cycle within the park, but you will also be able to enjoy your family time here. Locals love to have picnic on the lawn area; and it is not surprised that you will see lots of parents and their kids playing toy motor boat in the water area in front of Hong Kong Velodrome. It is certainly the best place for quality family time!


An Amazing Spot to Chill at Hang Hau Man Kuk Lane Park


Man Kuk Lane Park, a smaller, but less crowded and more relaxing park, is located right next to the Hong Kong Velodrome Park. This Chinese garden has a stunning fish pond and a manmade waterfall. It is such a beautiful place to sit down, relax, chill and simply just listen to the sound of water falling. If you want to escape the city within the city, this park is everything for you!


A Wonderful Promenade for Everyone at Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Park


The waterfront promenade park in Tseung Kwan O has divided by the river into two separate area - Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Park and Tseung Kwan O South Waterfront Promenade. This park is pet-friendly; it is very common to find people walking their dog along the river. Some people like to fly their kite in the park; some enjoy a drink or two in the pubs there. You will absolutely feel like having a great vacation time while you are there!
