Ingredients You'll Need for Making a Fruity Scone
75g small cubes of butter
300g plain flour, extra for dusting
2 tbsp baking powder
20g sugar
75g raisins
150ml milk
1 beaten egg
clotted cream & jam for serving
How to Make Scones Yourself at Home
Preheat the oven to fan 200 degree. Lightly apply butter on a large baking paper placed on the baking tray.
Mix the flour and baking powder together into a large mixing bowl.
Add butter into the mixing bowl and rub in lightly and quickly with your fingertips until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Then add sugar and raisins in.
Pour half of the milk and 3 tablespoons of the beaten egg into the mixture.
Mix them all together to a soft dough; add more milk into the mixing bowl to mop up any dry mixture at the bottom.
Put the dough onto a lightly floured table surface, gently roll the dough to make it about 3cm thick.
Use a 7cm cuter to cut out as many pieces as possible. Place them slightly apart from each other on the greased baking paper.
Gather the rest trimmings, repeat step 7 until you use up all the dough.
Brush the tops of the dough with the beaten egg.
Bake for 10 minutes or until they turn golden.
Cool them down on a wire rack.
Serve it with clotted cream and your preferred jam. Enjoy!
